10 Great Grooming
Tips & Hacks For Men
Lip Balm
A nice close shave looks great, but there’s one thing that can annoy the crap out of any man. You guessed it … yep, it’s that nasty little cut, especially around the throat. But have no fear guys! Just apply a little lip balm to that cut and presto! The lip balm acts as a seal and stops the bleeding.
Nail Care
There are actually some who disagree, even still, neglecting your nails is a huge grooming mistake. Trim your nails regularly and keep them clean. Invest in a basic nail kit that includes a nail clipper, file, and cuticle pusher. It's a small effort that goes a long way in maintaining a polished appearance. Oh yea, and don’t forget your toes.
Regular Haircuts
Regular haircuts are essential for a polished appearance. The frequency of your haircut depends on your hair type and style but aim for every 4-6 weeks to keep your hair looking its best.
Fragrance
Of course, less is more. But at the same time, you want it to last. One of the best ways to make your cologne last longer is to apply Vaseline to your post points. Post points are various parts of your body such as, behind your ear, the base of your neck, and your wrists. These areas do a great job of emitting and pushing out the fragrance when you wear it. But, when you apply Vaseline to these points, the fragrance locks into these points making it last longer so you can smell official.
Cleaning your razor
One of the things that causes your razor to break down is all of the residue and hair that gets stuck in it. So, what do we do? We blast the razor with water. Although this is typically effective, it’s still very difficult trying to get everything out with just water. Here’s a great hack – Use a blow dryer and give it a good blast. That’s right, blast that hair and residue out of your razor with a blow dryer. Works like a charm.
Lips
This is an area most guys may not pay attention to. But the truth is, we more often show up with dry, chapped, and damaged lips than ladies do. But guys, let’s be honest …. What woman wants to kiss razor-sharp lips? You might think licking them does the trick, but it actually makes things worse on your lips. Here’s the hack – after you brush your teeth, gently rub your toothbrush across your lips. Or take a warm washcloth, and gently rub it over your lips. You could call it … exfoliating your lips.
Body Odor
If you want to cut down on body odor, and for some reason, you don’t want to use your typical deodorant or antiperspirant, try using Rubbing Alcohol. This has proven to be a great alternative, especially for guys who want to get rid of chemicals that might irritate your skin. Simply soak a cosmetic pad in alcohol and apply it liberally under your arms just like you would deodorant. However, there are two things you want to keep in mind. 1) It’ll get rid of the odor, but it won’t keep you dry the way deodorant will. 2) You might not want to apply it if you just finished shaving your armpit because, well…you know…. It’ll sting.
Shaving
Rather than shaving before showering, try shaving after showering. It’s effective because the hot water from your shower cleans your skin. In addition, the steam from the shower opens up your pores and allows the dirt to flush out. It also softens your face allowing you to get a much more comfortable shave. This works well for men with sensitive skin and helps prevent those painful and irritating in-grown hairs and razor bumps.
Oily Skin
Want to get rid of that oily film on your face? Try blotting it with a coffee filter. Blot not rub. It works because a coffee filter is made up of some of the same materials as a blotting sheet. A blotting sheet is typically what you see women use to cut down on the oil from their faces. If you’re a bachelor, it’s possible you may not have a blotting sheet on hand, but more than likely you’ll have a good ole’ coffee filter. Try it, you’ll love it!
Lemon Cut
Earlier we talked about exfoliating your lips, now it’s time to exfoliate your face. Don’t have any exfoliating cream? No worries, there’s a hack for that too. Just grab a lemon, cut it in half, rub it in sugar, and start scrubbing. That’s right, rub it all over your face. The sugar will act as an agent getting that dead skin off of your face making it smoother, fresher, and cleaner. On top of that, the lemon will give your skin a nice healthy glow.
